I believe it's just that you are open to receiving the blessing. I think God is just waiting to shower all of us with favor, but the Bible says we have to ask. We have to be in a relationship with Him. It's a two-way street; that's why it's so important to pray. :-)
Yeah I agree with Sues. I believe that if we are not in God's word and in His will, we can't receive the blessing He wants for us. It's too hard if we are ignoring Him. When we acknowledge our need for Him every moment of the day, the more real He becomes and everything good becomes a blessing instead of luck or us making something good.
Sharon, some versus that have helped me with this question: "Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full." John 16:24 "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope" Jeremiah 29:11 "Whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in My name, I will do it" John 14:13, 14. "If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples" John 15:7, 8
I have a handsome husband and a very precious boy! I am a mother, wife, sister, friend, daughter, and aunt! I love being all those things, but most of all I love being God's child! Jesus is my everything and am so glad he choose me!

no. We aren't blessed because of what we do or who we are. We are blessed because of who HE is and what HE'S done.
