I take for granted

So there is something that i take for granted and need to acknowledge and be grateful for. More times than not, my husband will tell me after I have cleaned the house how great it looks and how he appreciates me doing it. On top of that usually after he eats dinner he will tell me he appreciates me making him dinner and will say thank you.
I just realized the other day that I need to acknowledge him saying those things and am so glad that he is a man who sees my effort in taking care of him and the home while he works.
In return though, I have to say one of my weaknesses is thanking him and affirming my appreciation for his hard work.

To my husband who DOES read my blog...I know I need to affirm you more and am glad that you are patient with me as I realize this.

Food and then some

My sister wanted me to post this recipe:

1 can of white northern beans (slightly drain)
1 can of diced tomatoes (14.5oz or so and don't drain)
Garlic
Olive oil

Saute the garlic and olive oil...as much garlic as you would like..i had about five cloves.

Add the can of white northern beans and diced tomatoes. Simmer for about 20 min adding salt, pepper, and garlic salt (don't have to have the garlic salt..just a bonus)

Taste periodically till the tomatoes are soft and cooked. Don't cook too long cause beans can get mushy. Top with grated Parmesan cheese.

The end...grandma bea also puts in bowtie pasta in there too...cook the pasta separate. I didn't have the pasta in there last night when I made it.

Jason said he didn't want any because he doesn't like beans...I begged and begged him to try it and he really liked it.

Easy and very in expensive too...nice for cool weather that is coming up.

Blake had his 6 months appointment today. He is in the 50th percentile for height..I think 26inches and 75th for weight..18pounds 1 oz...and 90th for his head measurement.

Big boy we have and so cuddly too...I love it!

I went on a date

Last night a friend of mine from work watched Blake and Jason and I got to go on a date together. I got all dressed up and even put my nice perfume on. My husband looked so handsome in his green short sleeve pocketed shirt. We headed out to downtown Naperville and walked the streets hand in hand. We went to a restaurant called Heaven on Seven or Seven on Heaven...don't remember. But it was a cute little Cajun restaurant. It was kind of squished so Jason and I had to sit next to one another instead of across from one another. During the evening dinner we laughed, reminisced, and often gave reassuring touches. The hand holding, the conversation, and the sweet glances from Jason made me feel like we were dating all over again. I missed Blake when we were gone, but it was so good for Jason and I to go out and enjoy what we love about one another....each other's company and friendship. I felt so connected and bonded with him. I am so glad that the Lord blessed us with one another and cannot wait till our next date night!

Useless Information

I have a book of useless of information and in honor of baseball and the cubs doing so well I decided to list some interesting information about baseball:

**** 56 million people go to a major league baseball game every year

**** A baseball has 108 stiches

**** Babe Ruth wore a cabbage leaf under his hat to keep his head cool. He changed it every two innings.

**** Before 1859, baseball umpires used to sit in rocking chairs behind home plate

**** The first formal rules for playing baseball required the winning team to score 21 runs.

Our little get away and some apple pie

Here are some pictures of our little get away to the herrington inn and spa....we had a blast. It was cool and rainy, but made it all more relaxing and peaceful. We went raspberry picking, went to little shops, ate chocolate and drank coffee at a cute little place, slept in, worked out, went to Geneva commons, had some great dinners, and nestled with a fire at night. I can't wait till we are able to do this again!

Along with pictures of the herrington are pictures of apple pie baking. My grandma, aunts, cousins, and siblings all baked apple pies. I have to say that Bethany and Janna's turned out better than mine. Yes...I did make a lowfat pie...so did Janna and Janna's was REALLY good!

Round 1

On Monday night it was our first night with the helmet. It didn't go so swell. Blake was up every hour and was uncomfortable. I kept in my bed and tried to sooth him when he would waken up. Poor little guy! Then on Tuesday morning when he woke up I took the helmet off for an hour and there was a huge red circle on the side of his head. I called the tech and he said to keep it off the rest of the day and night. I was glad Blake didn't have to wear it, but dreaded the fact that he had to have it on Wed. morning. I took his helmet off this morning after he wore it for three hours, and again there is a red circle. I am hoping that it goes away so that I don't have to go back to the tech earlier than what was scheduled. Starting on Thursday, Blake has to wear it for 23 hours a day. Blake has a hard time sleeping with this helmet on right now. If you could just pray that he can have his helmet on and be comfortable in it when he sleeps that would be wonderful!

Here it be....

It's hard when you see someone you love so much have to do something that breaks your heart. You know though it's the best for the person, but seeing it done just tears you apart inside. Precious baby Blake got his helmet today and did a fantastic job! He smiled at the tech and was so good in the waiting area. She said he will wear it for about 12 weeks. If he grows fast he doesn't have to wear it as long. I am praying that he has a growth spurt and will be able to be out of the helmet sooner than what she has estimated. He is so adorable in his helmet..his round little cheeks stand out even more. We will be going every week to the doctor to get it measured making sure he is growing the way he needs to grow. The good thing is that he doesn't even seem to know that he has it on! I am thankful for my husband who during this time has been supportive. He has been strong and has given me so reassurance that this is good for Blake. I am so grateful that God has given me someone that can encourage me when I am having a hard time with something! God knew I needed a strong man...a mighty mighty strong man!

Vacation Kind OF

Jason took off this weekend and this coming week. I had the thought in mind that we would spend so much time together. Unfortunately it hasn't been like that. I went and spent the night at my grandmas with Blake and my other cousins and sister. I thought it would be nice for Jason to have a night off of Blake and a house to himself, and besides Grandma and Grandpa M were missing Blake. When we got back I worked out and Jason and I actually went grocery shopping together. It was so fun...something we did when we were first married. After grocery shopping we headed to my mom and dad's for Blake's first bonfire. Jason and I played bags with Janna and JP. Then ummmm this morning Jason woke up and met a friend for breakfast. I am so glad Jason did something that he could enjoy on his vacation. We leave Wednesday to spend a couple nights at the Harrington. I am excited to just be Jason and I, but kind of sad to leave Blake. I am sure I will do fine.

I look forward to spending some quiet, quality time together with my hubby!
